Administrative Assistant

Volunteer Role

Provide assistance with answering telephones and general administrative duties to support the operational requirements of Hope Place Centres.

Time Commitment

Available 1- 4hr shift per week (hours flexible) and provide assistance during fundraising events.
 

Orientation/Training

  • A two hour Volunteer orientation and training provided. 

  • A volunteer supervisor will be available to answer questions and provide guidance as needed.

Fundraising Assistant

Volunteer Role

  • Brief Description

  • Purpose

Assists with fundraising committee events. For example:

  • Assisting in the development, implementation and management of annual giving service operation.

  • Developing plans for donor acquisition and retention of current donors.

  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve fundraising program performance.

  • Developing new fundraising opportunities to solicit and maintain participation in activities.

Varied locations- some work completed on site at Hope Place Centres, other locations may be involved.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist with the organization of fundraising events.

  • Telephone calls to donors and participants in events.

  • Supervise social events.

  • Records gifts and assists other members of the committee by acknowledging with letters and receipts.

Driver Volunteer

Drive clients to scheduled appointments, meetings and organized social outings.

Purpose

To assist with clients recovery, ability to attend appointments and meetings.  Provide a supportive environment for clients to engage in social activities for personal well-being and recovery.
 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

Liaise with Program Director to determine what activities clients need to attend during volunteer’s time slot.

Family Program Support

Volunteer Role

  • Brief Description

  • Purpose

  • Assist the Family Program Coordinator with group preparation, meeting and greeting client’s, and group take down.

  • Back-up for the Family Program Coordinator in case of illness.

Purpose

Assist the Family Program Coordinator in group preparation and take down.

Provide coverage.
 

Relationships

Working with Family members and others who have been affected by another person's use of alcohol and/or drugs.
 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist the Family Program Coordinator in putting together packages for family members.

  • Attend the Steps to Self-Care Program- one Saturday and one Sunday each month.

  • Help with set-up and take down at each group.

  • Observe group facilitation.

  • Someone who is reliable, punctual, flexible, takes initiative, has good boundaries and abides by confidentiality.

  • Experience as a family member of someone with an addiction and knowledge of addiction and recovery would be beneficial.

  • If in recovery personally, must have at least one year of abstinence from drugs and/or alcohol.

Orientation/Training

Observe group facilitation and meet with Family Program Coordinator prior to group to review what the group entails and what the set-up and take down looks like.
