Hope Place Women's Treatment Centre
Hope Place Women’s Treatment Centre (HPWTC), established in 1990, is
a 15-bed women’s residential addiction treatment centre. HPWTC
features a therapeutic rural setting where women can heal from the
effects of alcohol and/or drug addiction. The program includes a
comprehensive holistic addiction treatment curriculum that
incorporates 12-step philosophy, which helps women get connected to
others in their communities.
The Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (MH LHIN)
provides core funding for twelve beds .Three beds are offered
“fee-for service”.

HPWTC
offers a 24-day treatment program, in a caring community setting
where women’s unique needs, experiences and situations are
recognized in the complexity of alcohol and/or drug addiction.
Open to women ages 18 and over.
Dedicated, qualified and compassionate female staff.
Family and friends are permitted to visit on two of the Saturdays
during the treatment stay. On one of these Saturdays, the primary
support people who wish to visit are required to attend a
psycho-educational family group session called “Steps to Self
Care”. Please
refer to the intake package to verify the date, location and time.
Visitation will follow the session if the above requirement is
met.
The gender-specific, 24-day addiction treatment program addresses
the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of
addiction. Components of the program include:
Pre-admission interview and creation of and assessment and
treatment plan.
Psycho-educational groups, process groups and individual
counselling.
Working through addiction-related issues: trauma,
guilt, grief, denial, unresolved anger, assertiveness,
self-esteem, and risks for relapse.
Building healthy relationships and practicing effective
communication skills.
Participating in healthy leisure activities: yoga,
meditation and swimming.
Participating in 12-step meetings. Graduates of the program
are welcome to attend.
The Aftercare Group is held one evening
a week, from 7 – 9 p.m., at HPWTC. Call the Group Facilitator at

When women leave HPWTC, they continue to have access to recovery
support at the Aftercare Program.
Women can attend for up to 2 years.
Graduates of the residential program continue to receive
support while sharing their personal relapse prevention
strategies.
Referrals to community resources are facilitated.
Graduates of other treatment programs are welcome to attend
the Aftercare Program.

Self-referrals can be made by calling the Intake Worker at
905.875.3214, ext. 103 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Twelve beds are covered by Ministry funds, except for a TRAVEL FEE of $100, payable on arrival, which covers recreational and transportation costs during the 24 day stay.
Criteria:
Women , ages 18 and over, with alcohol and/or drug
addiction.
Participate in screening and assessment procedures,
including a telephone and face-to-face interview.
Be physically and mentally able to participate in all
aspects of the program.
Be willing to accept a structured, intensive treatment
program and abide by the HPWTC rules.
Agree to undergo a standard medical examination before
admission.
Be willing to attend 12-step meetings.
Admission to the program is at the discretion of the Intake
Department in consultation with the Program Manager and House
Doctor. It will be based on a woman's ability to meet the above
criteria.
The Intake Worker receives a call from the woman, inquiring
about residential treatment.
A brief screening interview is done with the woman over the
phone.
The woman is asked to arrange to have a Provincial
Assessment done at a local Assessment and Referral agency.
Pre-treatment and interim support is provided.
The Intake Worker receives the Provincial Assessment Tools.
If HPWTC is a good fit for the woman, an appointment is
made for a face-to-face interview. After the interview, the woman
is put on the waiting list until a bed is available. If HPWTC is
not a good fit, the woman is referred to other treatment centres.
