Case for Support

Hope Place Centres is building a new, purpose-built addiction treatment facility in Halton — nearly double our current capacity, to deliver the evidence-based, judgment-free recovery our community needs.

We've raised 90% of our capital goal. The remaining $3.5 million will open the doors to hundreds more people each year.

The face of addiction is not what stigma tells us it is.

It is the executive and the student, the new parent and the retiree, the construction worker and the nurse. It crosses cultures, genders and socioeconomic backgrounds with equal force.

Every year, more than one million Ontarians experience a mental health or addiction issue — people from every neighbourhood, every background and every stage of life. In Halton alone, community health partners consistently identify addiction as a challenge that reaches into high- and low-income households alike, across every demographic.

What addiction does not cross equally is access to care. That is the gap Hope Place Centres exists to close.

When someone recovers from addiction, an entire world recovers with them.

When someone completes a structured, evidence-based recovery program and leaves with a plan, with skills and with community — they go home. They return to their families. They return to work. They reconnect with their communities. The children in their lives grow up in more stable homes. The partners and parents who have been holding things together get to put some of that weight down.

That ripple moves outward. In Halton, alcohol use costs an estimated $178 million per year in direct healthcare expenses and lost productivity. Each year, alcohol contributes to more than 5,500 emergency department visits, 728 hospitalizations and 125 deaths among Halton residents.

This is why we need room for Hope.

Ontario has fewer than 1,400 publicly funded residential addiction treatment beds for 15 million people. In Halton, an average of 1,535 residents per year seek treatment — and those are only the ones who asked for help. Community partners in Halton have explicitly identified long wait times, a lack of local withdrawal management programs and inadequate follow-up care as barriers to sustainable recovery.

Rooted in evidence. Guided by compassion. Free from judgment.

Our programs don't just treat addiction. They treat the whole person — physically, emotionally and mentally. Our multidisciplinary team includes professionals with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Peer-led support runs through everything we do, before, during and after treatment.

The results speak for themselves:

  • 100% of bed-based program participants felt staff believed in their capacity to change and grow

  • 98% felt treated with respect and dignity throughout their stay

  • 100% would recommend Hope Place Centres to a friend

Building Hope.

The new Hope Place Centres facility will include:

  • Over 21,855 sq. ft. of dedicated treatment space

  • 46 beds — nearly doubling our current residential capacity

  • 23 full-time staff positions dedicated to recovery and wellness

  • Dedicated outpatient space

Evidence shows that purpose-built, trauma-informed facilities improve treatment retention, engagement and long-term recovery outcomes. Every design decision in this facility reflects that.

We're $3.5 million from the finish line.

The Raising Hope Capital Campaign has secured 90% of the funding needed to complete this facility. What remains is $3.5 million — and the chance for a small number of donors to play a defining role in shaping the future of addiction recovery in Halton and across the province.

Named giving opportunities are available at multiple levels. Whether you're considering a leadership gift, a named space within the facility, or a meaningful contribution at any level, we'd welcome the conversation.
